tenebrous_hill.jpgAs the name implies, the Tenebrous Hill or Bukit Kelam is a hill. But since the material formed it is hard rock, people around it think of it as a rock. They believe, the Tenebrous hill is the second largest boulder in the world.
It is located approximately 19 kilometers from the city in Sintang and subdistrict Tenebrous Permai. Its initial function was as the water resources area for local people. Only in 1992, the area defined as Sintang flagship tourist attraction. Later the area become Kapuas Raya Province tourist mainstay, which is a division of West Kalimantan Province, the capital Sintang.

The Tenebrous hill is actually a part of a series of hill including Rentap and Luiet hill. The local government had been planning to unify these hills as a tourist area called Kelutap ( Kelam(eng:Tenebrous), Luit(eng:Whistle), and Rentap).
Many tourist activities that can be done in the area, particularly for those who fond of adventure tourism. With height of 900 meters and the cliff slope of 15-45 degrees, the hill is challenging for climbing.

The hills also offers rare plants, like giant nepenthes and black orchid.
Before arriving to the foot of the hill, you need to drive around the hill for about ten kilometers. There are waterfalls and bat cave along the route. The bat cave is very creepy and only those with guts can explore it.

Before entering the route, visitors may stop at the art gallery that was built with the original form of Bandong Motor Boat, which is a typical river transportation in Sintang. Travelers can also stop at two houses: Short Ensaid and Long Ensaid which is an actual size replica of a typical house of Daya ethnic communities.

In Senentang City, there are historical tourist: the Sintang Palace. The Palace saved the history record from the time of Hindus to Islam. Many relics that can be related to the influence of a the large archipelago kingdom, Majapahit.

To reach Sintang City, tourists can ride the bus from the capital of West Kalimantan, Pontianak. It took about eight hours. Economic to executive bus is available at a rate ranging between Rp 100,000 (US $10) to Rp 120,000 (US $12).

Arriving in Sintang, there are tour buses that are available to take you to the tourist objects in the city. There is also a tour packages to sail along the river in the city.
